
Sidorov Named WHL Player of the Week for Second Straight Week

Saskatoon, SK - Saskatoon Blades forward Egor Sidorov has been named Tempo WHL Player of the Week for his efforts between Monday, April 22nd and Sunday, April 28th. The league announced Sidorov as the winner Monday afternoon.
It's the second straight week and third time this season the Anaheim Ducks prospect has received the weekly honour for the WHL. Sidorov contributed a pair of points in both games 1 and 2 of the Eastern Conference Final this past weekend against the Moose Jaw Warriors. The 6-foot sniper's two-goal performance helped push the Blades to overtime in Game 1 against Moose Jaw on Friday before the team fell 4-3 in the extra frame. Sidorov added two helpers the following night in Game 2, forcing another overtime which the Blades won 3-2 at home to tie the best-of-seven series 1-1.
The Vitebsk, Belarus product was named second star in Game 1 at SaskTel Centre after lighting the lamp twice. Sidorov scored 1:59 into the second period to give the Blades a 2-0 lead and tied the game 3-3 with 1:27 remaining in the game to force overtime. Sidorov assisted on the first two goals for Saskatoon the following night, including Toronto Maple Leafs draft pick Brandon Lisowsky's game-tying goal in the second period. The Blades went on to win 3-2 in overtime thanks to heroics from fellow Leafs property Fraser Minten.
The 19-year-old winger leads the WHL in goals this postseason with 12 in 11 games. Sidorov has six assists to go along with them, ranking first in team scoring at 18 points. The third-year Blade has eight goals and four assists on his current four-game point streak.
Game 3 of the Eastern Conference Final between the Blades and Warriors is Tuesday, April 30th at the Moose Jaw Events Centre, followed by Game 2 on Wednesday, May 1st. Both games begin at 7:00pm before the series returns to the Bridge City on Friday, May 3rd.
