Shane Nance induced a bases loaded ground out from Edmonton pitcher Jason Childers to end the game Tuesday night and preserve a 5-4 Tucson win over the Trappers at TELUS Field.

Monday the Trappers received four consecutive two-out walks to force in two runs and defeated Tucson 3-2. Tuesday night, Nance allowed three straight Trappers to reach base with two outs cutting the lead to 5-4 before ending the game and collecting the save.

Mike Gosling earned his third win of the year allowing one run in 5.2 innings of work.

Tucson scored single runs in the third and fourth innings to build an early 2-0 advantage for Gosling. Steve Neal's sacrifice fly chased home Gosling in the third. Brian Barden connected for a solo home run in the fourth.

The Trappers got on the board in the bottom of the sixth when Ron Calloway's ground ball back to the mound plated Brandon Watson. Edmonton chased Gosling from the game and Mike Schultz came on in relief and retired Jorge Toca with the bases loaded to end the threat.

Micah Franklin provided some insurance runs in the top of the seventh when he connected for a long three-run homer to push the Sidewinders lead to 5-1. Franklin finished the game 3-3 with two walks and a triple shy of the cycle.

Edmonton answered with two runs in the bottom of the seventh off Tucson reliever Mark Freed. Brady Raggio threw a scoreless eighth inning and collected two outs in the ninth before Nance was summoned from the bullpen. Ron Calloway doubled chasing Brandon Watson to third base. After a walk to Valentino Pascucci, Nance uncorked a wild pitch scoring Watson. Ryan Church was then walked intentionally to bring up the pitcher Childers.

Tucson improved to 36-29 with the win. The Sidewinders and the Trappers will meet Wednesday afternoon at 11:05 a.m. (Tucson time) in game three of the series. Casey Daigle (0-2 8.49) will start for the Sidewinders against the Trappers Scott Downs (6-3 3.20). Downs threw a seven inning no-hitter in his previous start. The game will be TAPE DELAYED AT 7:00 p.m. on Cool 1450 AM.
