BURLINGTON, VT --- Vermont Expos fans will have a chance to meet 2004 team, including eight returning players, on Wednesday night at 7:00 p.m. during the team's practice at Centennial Field.
The Expos practice on Wednesday will take place from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with the players taking a break at 7:00 p.m. to meet and sign autographs for Vermont fans in attendance. In addition to the autograph session, the Expos will be giving out free soda, popcorn, cotton candy, sno-cones and have the speed pitch operating from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
The eight returning Expos include pitchers Chris Goodman and Nehomar Ochoa. The duo joined the Expos in August and combined to go 5-1 with a 1.02 ERA for Vermont to end the 2003 season.
Other returning players include 2002 pitcher Jon Felfoldi, 2002-03 pitcher Eddie Diaz and 2003 pitcher Jim Henderson. The position players returning this season from 2003 are infielders Brad Ditter and Ja"mar Clanton, along with outfielder Doug Vroman.
There are currently 26 players in town for the Expos three-day mini-camp, including six who were selected in the 2004 draft last week. They include outfielder Marvin Lowrance (7th round), infielder Brandon Comway (9th), pitcher David Trahan (11th) and infielder David Travis (13th). Also making his debut with Vermont will be Edgardo Baez, taken in the 4th round of the 2003 draft.
The Expos will wrap up their three-day mini-camp on Thursday with a practice from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Vermont begins the 2004 season on Friday at Oneonta and open the home schedule at Centennial Field on Monday with the Lowell Spinners.
