
Sidekicks Lose the First Texas Derby

Dallas Sidekicks News Release
Allen, TX - The Dallas Sidekicks lost at home against the Mesquite Outlaws 7-2. The Sidekicks next game will be at home against the Monterrey Flash on December 28th, 2019 at 7.00 PM CT for Fiesta Night in Allen, TX at the Allen Event Center.
The game started off chippy and a Sidekicks defender was out of position and allowed the Outlaws forward VcMor Eligwe to score the first goal of the game and bring Mesquite up 1-0 with 13:55 left in the quarter. A foul was called on Sidekicks defender Jonathan Segura and the Outlaws got a set piece on which they couldn't put into the goal. Sidekicks goalkeeper Juan Gamboa made a strong save to keep the Outlaws at bay and showed off his prowess. The Outlaws set up another set piece and Outlaws forward Jamie Lovegrove slid one past Gamboa and brought the Outlaws lead up 2-0 halfway through the quarter. The Sidekicks got some great looks, but the Outlaws goalkeeper Eduardo Cortes snatched them out of the air and denied the Sidekicks a goal. The Sidekicks were out of position again and Eligwe, his second of the night, put one into the back of the net and brought their lead up 3-0 with 5:06 left in the quarter. The quarter ended with the Sidekicks down 0-3.
The Sidekicks came out with possession of the ball for much of the beginning of the second quarter and took multiple shots on goal that Cortes kept saving with some effort. The Outlaws Anthony Powell put one in the net for the first goal of the quarter to bring their lead up 4-0 with 3:33 left in the second. The quarter ended with the Sidekicks down 0-4 against the Outlaws.
The third quarter started with the Outlaws on the power play, but the Sidekicks successfully killed the penalty. Then, the Sidekicks went on a power play after Outlaws player Rio Ramirez received a blue card for tripping. Sidekicks midfielder Arthur Ivo rocketed one past the Outlaws goalkeeper to put the Sidekicks on the board 1-4, with the Outlaws in the lead. The game got a little intense with Sidekicks player Ricardinho and Outlaws player Eligwe getting into a shoving match which saw Ricardinho receiving a blue card for tripping and the Outlaws went on a power play and scored a goal. Mitchell Cardenas was credited with the goal and the Outlaws went up 5-1 with 8:13 left in the quarter. The Outlaws went on the power play after Sidekicks player Kristian Quintana was called for pushing. The quarter ended and the Outlaws kept their lead 5-1.
The Outlaws started the fourth quarter on the power play, but the Sidekicks killed it yet again. The Sidekicks got a set piece but weren't able to put it into the net. Outlaws players Mike Jones and VcMor Eligwe went on a breakaway and Eligwe put it into the back of the net to increase the Outlaws lead 6-1. Ricardinho was given a yellow card for delay of game. Then the Outlaws went on the power play after Arthur Ivo was given a blue card for holding. Quintana was given a yellow card for dissent which saw three Sidekicks players in the penalty box. Both teams went to full strength with 7:23 left in the game. With 6:21 left in the game the Outlaws put another one into the net, this time with Brenden Lee who brought the Outlaws up 7-1. The Sidekicks put together a nice set piece and Frederico Moojen placed one into the net and cut the Outlaws lead 7-2. The game ended with the Outlaws taking the first ever Texas Boxing Day Derby.
