(Scotiabank Field at Nat Bailey Stadium - Vancouver, B.C.) - Vancouver is alone atop the North Division after Saturday's 4-0 victory over Spokane out at Scotiabank Field. Canadians DH Chris Bec went 2-for-3 with a solo home run while LHP Randy Pondler went five scoreless innings striking out six to improve to 4-4 on the season after dropping his first four decisions of 2018.

The Canadians opened the scoring in the bottom of the 1st inning when 3B Otto Lopez lined a single and stole second base before CF Tanner Kirwer sacrificed him over to third base before Lopez scored on a RBI single from C Chris Bec off Indians starter RHP Scott Engler who gave up two runs over his 4 2/3 innings of work.

Engler's only other blemish came in the bottom of the 5th inning when SS Jesus Severino hit a double down the right field line and scored on a bases loaded walk to Chris Bec which was the last batter Engler would face on the night.

Up a pair of runs in the bottom of the 6th, Vancouver got some insurance when C Yorman Rodriguez led off with a double off RHP Cole Uvila who gave up an RBI single o the next hitter, 1B Jake Brodt extending the lead to three.

The game's final run came in the bottom of the 7th when DH Chris Bec slammed his 3rd home run of the season onto the "hey y'all!" Porch, a solo shot that made the final 4-0 Vancouver.

Canadians pitching was dominant once again as on the heels of RHP Randy Pondler's five scoreless innings, RHP Joey Pulido (2.0IP) and RHP Connor Law (2.0IP) slammed the door on the Indians offense that has now gone 17 innings without a run dating back to the top of the 1st inning in Friday's victory over Vancouver.

The Canadians will send RHP Josh Winckowski (4-4, 2.60) to the mound in search of the series victory and a two game lead on the Indians who after Saturday's loss trail Vancouver (14-9) by a lone game in the North Division while both Tri-City and Everett are both four back with 15 games to go in the second half.

Sunday's game is SOLD OUT, but the Canadians announced that tickets are available for the two remaining homestands (Aug 23-27 vs. Boise) and (August 29-31 vs. Everett) with tickets available by calling 604.872.5232, online at www.canadiansbaseball.com or by visiting the Nat Bailey Stadium Box Office at 4601 Ontario Street, Vancouver, B.C.
