
Shuckers Skipper Carlos Subero to Manage Surprise in Prestigious Arizona Fall League

BILOXI, MS - Arizona Fall League Director Steve Cobb has announced organization and staff (managers, pitching coaches, hitting coaches, and athletic trainers) assignments for the 2015 Arizona Fall League season that begins Tuesday, October 13. Biloxi Shukers' manager Carlos Subero has been selected to manage the Surprise Saguaros, comprising of the top prospects from the Milwaukee Brewers, Kansas City Royals, New York Yankees, St. Louis Cardinals and Texas Rangers organizations.
The rest of the Saguaros staff includes pitching coaches Jose Rosado (Yankees) and Carlos Reyes (Royals), hitting coach Bobby Rose (Rangers) and trainers Masa Koyanagi (Royals) and Brent Neuharth (Cardinals).
Subero, 43, led the Shuckers to a first half title and a league-best 43-25 record. The Caracas, Venezuela native has collected 855 managerial wins over 14 seasons in professional baseball. Subero is in his second season in the Brewers organization as manager at the Double-A level. He led the Huntsville Stars to a 77-63 record and a postseason berth last season. Prior to joining the Brewers, Subero managed five seasons in the Dodgers organization at Class-A Inland Empire (2009), Double-A Chattanooga (2010-12) and Class-A Rancho Cucamonga (2013). He led the Lookouts to the playoffs in 2011 after clinching the Southern League's second-half North Division title with a 42-27 record after the All-Star break.
During his only season as a manager in the White Sox organization, Subero led Double-A Birmingham to a 74-63 record and a Southern League playoff berth in 2008.
Regarded throughout professional baseball as the "finishing school" for top prospects since its inception in 1992, the six-team league features top prospects from every organization in Major League Baseball. The league plays three games per day six days a week (Monday-Saturday) in six Cactus League stadiums. This year, the league returns to the Peoria Sports Complex. The returning sites are Camelback Ranch-Glendale, Salt River Fields at Talking Stick, Scottsdale Stadium and Surprise Stadium.
Daily start times are 12:35 p.m. and 6:35 p.m. The 10th annual Fall Stars Game will be played Saturday, November 7 at Surprise Stadium. The league's championship contest will be played Saturday, November 21 at Scottsdale Stadium.
The 2015 schedule will be released Thursday, July 30. The Arizona Fall League is owned and operated by Major League Baseball.
The Shuckers will play the first doubleheader in MGM Park history tonight, with first pitch of game one set for 6:10 pm. Fans with tickets to Friday's game will be admitted for both games of the first doubleheader in MGM Park history. Fans with a ticket to last night's game which was postponed by inclement weather can exchange it for any non-restricted home game during the 2015 regular season. Tonight's doubleheader will include two seven inning games, with game two beginning 30 minutes after the conclusion of game one.

Game one will feature a matchup of RHP Tyler Wagner (7-5, 2.53) for the Shuckers, while the Generals will counter with RHP Stephen Landazuri (0-2, 4.14). LHP Hobbs Johnson (7-4, 3.20) will take the mound for Biloxi in game two with Jackson's starter to be announced The twin-bill will have a first pitch of 6:10 p.m., with coverage beginning at 5:55 p.m. on 1240-AM WGCM, 1580-AM WPMO and the Biloxi Shuckers Radio Network.
