BILOXI, MS - The Heart of a Shucker Community Fund, created in partnership with the Biloxi Shuckers and the Gulf Coast Community Foundation, has announced its largest donation of the year to Moss Point Parks and Recreation to help the recovery efforts in Moss Point after a tornado hit the town in late June. The $10,000 donation is the largest contribution by the Shuckers to a local organization this year.

"We're excited to support Moss Point Parks and Recreation," Community Relations Manager David Blackwell said. "Moss Point has a history of being the home to a number of Mississippi's great athletes and has produced a multitude of champions through its youth athletic programs. After suffering incredible damage from a tornado, a couple of months ago, we wanted to make sure we are doing our part to help them rebuild and support them moving forward."

The donation was presented to Moss Point Parks and Recreation prior to the Shuckers' game on August 12 against the Tennessee Smokies.

"The Moss Point Parks and Recreation Department is so grateful to be receiving a donation from the Heart of a Shucker Community Fund," Donna Joseph, Director of Moss Point Parks and Recreation, said. "Our city has faced many challenges, including the effects of a recent tornado. It is contributions like this that give us hope for a better tomorrow. We offer our sincere appreciation to the Biloxi Shuckers Organization and again, we are grateful."

Moss Point is located along the Pascagoula River, 28 miles away from MGM Park. The city was hit by a devastating EF-2 tornado in late June that ripped the roof off multiple buildings and took out power. The tornado damaged or destroyed at least 100 buildings in the town.

The Heart of a Shucker Community Fund was created on July 3, 2023, to allow the Biloxi Shuckers to make meaningful contributions to enhance the Gulf Coast community the team calls home. The fund, the first created in Shuckers franchise history, aims to support the local Gulf Coast community and beyond through meaningful contributions, partnerships and exposure.

Individual tickets, group outings, Shuck Nation memberships and Flex Plans for the 2023 Biloxi Shuckers season are available now by calling (228) 233-3465 or visiting biloxishuckers.com.
