
Walker Powell Wins Fifth Consecutive Start for Tennessee

BILOXI, MS- The Tennessee Smokies won the series tonight taking four out of the first five games of the series by a final of 4-2. The Smokies scored early and often to guide them to victory tonight.
Tennessee struck first in the opening inning, when Owen Caissie hit a sacrifice fly to deep center field, scoring Bradlee Beesley to take a 1-0 lead. Later in the inning, BJ Murray blasted a two run home run to left field, his fourteenth of the year to make it 3-0 in the first.
In the third inning, Beesley reached on a free pass and was driven in by a Caissie double to extend the Smokies lead to 4-0. The Shuckers cut the lead in half in the bottom of the eighth inning, scoring on a wild pitch and a Carlos Rodriguez single to make it 4-2 Tennessee.
In the ninth inning, the Shuckers made it interesting with a walk and a hit-by pitch to put the game winning run at the plate with two outs in the inning. Smokies reliever Brailyn Marquez struckout Lamar Sparks to win the ballgame 4-2.
Smokies' starter Walker Powell is on a Southern League best five game win streak after another victory tonight. Powell tossed five shutout innings, allowing only three hits to improve to 9-5 on the season. Powell now has the most wins by any Smokies pitcher this season.
