Montgomery Biscuits News Release
MONTGOMERY, Ala. - The Biscuits (47-30) lost their third-straight game, and second in a row to the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp (34-43), falling in the second of their five-game set, 7-5, on Wednesday night at Riverwalk Stadium.
The Jumbo Shrimp pounced on Biscuits starter Riley O'Brien (4-5) with a three-run first thanks to a Joe Dunand RBI-single and a two-run single by J.C. Millan. The outing would prove to be O'Brien's roughest of the year, as the righty surrendered six runs (five earned) on five hits, three walks, and four strikeouts over just three innings.
The Biscuits would rally in the bottom of the first against Jumbo Shrimp starter Daniel Castano, however, and tied the game with a three-run first of their own, which included RBI-singles from Tristan Gray and Lucius Fox, and an RBI-double by Robbie Tenerowicz.
In the third, Jacksonville first baseman Billy Fleming broke the 3-3 tie with a three-run opposite field homer to right that made it 6-3. The Biscuits responded with two runs in the bottom of the third on a Tenerowicz RBI-single and a throwing error by Shrimp third baseman J.C. Millan to make it 6-5.
Fleming swatted an RBI-double in the top of the fifth before a rainstorm delayed the game an hour and nine minutes. Tyler Zombro and Dalton Moats combined for 4.2 scoreless innings when play resumed, but the Biscuits had no answer for Josh Roeder, Tyler Stevens, and Tommy Eveld, who combined for five shutout innings of relief.
The Biscuits will try to bounce back on Thursday when Paul Campbell (2-0) takes on Sixto Sanchez (3-2) on Red Tails Night featuring a T-Shirt Giveaway at 6:35 PM CT.
The rest of the series will also include Family Faith Night and MAX Fireworks on Friday, June 28; and Superhero Night and MAX Fireworks on Saturday, June 29.
