Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp News Release

KODAK, Tenn. - The Miami Marlins announced a pair of transactions that impact their Double-A affiliate Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp roster prior to tonight's game against the Tennessee Smokies at Smokies Stadium at 2 p.m.

Catcher Skyler Ewing has been transferred from High-A Jupiter to Jacksonville. With the Hammerheads, Ewing hit .091 (2-for-22) with a home run and two runs batted in. This is his first call-up to the Double-A level. Ewing was signed by the Marlins as a minor league free agent on March 26, 2018, after he was released by the Atlanta Braves on March 25. Ewing was selected by the Braves in the Triple-A Phase of the Rule 5 Draft from the Giants on Dec. 14, 2017. Ewing, 25, is a native of Arlington, Texas, and was originally selected by the Giants in the sixth round of the 2014 draft out of Rice University.

In a corresponding move, infielder Colby Lusignan was released by the Marlins organization. Lusignan played in 10 games for the Jumbo Shrimp, hitting .200 (6-for-30) with seven runs batted in and two doubles in his first year playing at the Double-A level.

The Jumbo Shrimp roster stands at 25 active players, and a revised roster is attached.

The Jumbo Shrimp and Smokies continue a five-game series with tonight's game at 2 p.m. at Smokies Stadium. Right-handed pitcher Cody Poteet (0-1, 5.79 ERA) will start for Jacksonville against Tennessee right-handed pitcher Duncan Robinson (0-0, 1.93 ERA). Fans can listen to the game on the Jumbo Shrimp Network presented by Community First, beginning at 1:45 p.m. eastern with the pregame show "Shrimp On Deck" locally on Sunny 102.3 FM, on the TuneIn Radio app, and www.jaxshrimp.com.
