PEARL, Miss. - The Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp (18-27) and Mississippi Braves (20-25) were suspended due to rain and wet grounds going to the top of the third inning with Jacksonville leading Mississippi 2-0 at Trustmark Park on Wednesday night.

The clubs will resume the game and play it to its full nine innings on Thursday night beginning at 6 p.m. eastern / 5 p.m. central, and then after that contest is complete there will be a 30-minute break before a seven-inning game will be played as the second game of the five-game series.

Jacksonville built an early lead thanks to starting pitcher Nick Neidert, who collected an RBI single to put the Jumbo Shrimp in front 1-0. This was followed by a sacrifice fly from Mason Davis that grew the lead to 2-0. Neidert then struck out the side in order in the bottom of the second before the tarp was put on the field and the game went into delay.

Fans can listen to Thursday's games on the Jumbo Shrimp Network presented by Community First, beginning at 5:45 p.m. eastern with the pregame show "Shrimp On Deck" locally on Sunny 102.3 FM, on the TuneIn Radio app, and www.jaxshrimp.com.
