
Shreveport Defeats Corpus Christi Saturday

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas - For a second-consecutive night, the Corpus Christi IceRays fell to the Shreveport Mudbugs by a 5-1 final at American Bank Center. The Mudbugs (25-11-0-0) hit the 50-point mark on the season with their eleventh win against the IceRays (13-19-3-3, 32 pts.).
Ben Biester scored the IceRays' lone goal of the contest. Five different players scored for Shreveport. The Mudbugs were limited to just three shots on goal in the first period but put up 14 in both the second and third periods.
Mudbugs forward Billy Feczko opened the scoring with a shot from the right circle at 13:13 of the first period.
Brent Keefer scored on a rebound at 10:09 of the second period to make it 2-0 Shreveport. Shortly after, Biester scored from the left circle at 11:12 to pick up his third goal of the season, with assists coming from Aaron Hamel and Dawson Schwengler. Dawson Sciarrino regained the two-goal lead for the Mudbug three minutes later.
Matt Weber and Sam Miller (PP) recorded goals in the third period for the Mudbugs. Shreveport's Richie Parent picked up the victory with 28 saves.
The two teams close their 12-game season series Sunday at American Bank Center with puck drop at 3:05 p.m. CT.
