Rebels Explode for 6 Goals, Snap Skid

January 11, 2020 - North American Hockey League (NAHL)
Philadelphia Rebels News Release

Jamestown, NY - Sparked by a 2-goal performance by forward Noah Finstrom, a 33-save effort by goaltender Noah West, and an energetic fight and a goal from forward Brett Morich (his first NAHL goal), the Rebels (12-23-1-2) were able to down the visiting Johnstown Tomahawks (22-11-2-2) by a final score of 6-1 at the Northwest Arena, ending their 8-game losing streak.

The opening period was a tight back-and-forth game until Brett Morich dropped the gloves with Johnstown forward, and former Rebel, Reed Stark, sending the home crowd into a frenzy. 45 seconds later, on the power play, Rebels Captain Eric Olson scored his team-leading 12th goal of the season to give the Rebels the 1-0 advantage. Johnstown would tie things up shortly after, as Tristan Poissant put home a power play goal late in the first period.

Johnstown peppered Noah West in the second period with 11 shots, but the D1-committed goaltender turned everything aside, and Noah Finstrom again gave the home team the lead, 2-1, 3:15 into the second period.

The third period was all Jamestown. Finstrom buried his second of the game, and 11th of the year, while Jordan Cormier (6), Nick Siffringer (5) and Brett Morich added goals as well. Morich's tally was extra special, being his first ever NAHL goal. Noah West ended his superb night stopping 33 of 34 shots, earning his 7th victory of the season. Valerii Rykov, Spencer Cosway and Eric Olson all added 2 assists each, while Finstrom, Siffringer, Ryne Mohrman, Renars Karkls and Zach Brydges also added an assist each.

The Rebels continue their 6-game home stand next weekend as they pay host to the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Knights, 7:05pm at the Northwest Arena in Jamestown.
