San Angelo Colts News Release
Edinburg, Texas---The Roadrunners battled the Colts and the weather on Friday night, coming up short on both. A rain shortened game lead to a Colts 5-1 victory and a four game sweep of Edinburg. Brian Henschel in his first start since winning the Rawlings NAL Pitcher-of-the-Week award was terrific again as the Colts move to 4-0 on their 12 day road trip.
The Colts struck first with a run on a two out RBI single by Travis Calloway to take the first lead of the game at 1-0. San Angelo followed with a pair the following inning on a lead off homerun by Ronnie Gaines (17) and an RBI single by Landon Camp, to take a 3-0 lead in the third. The Colts would get another pair in the fourth, on RBI doubles by Ronnie Gaines and Daryl Jones to go up 5-0.
The Roadrunners would get their lone run on an RBI double by Brandon Wilkerson, who Brian Henschel would later pick off. With the score 5-1 in the bottom of the sixth and Edinburg batting with two out, none on and a one ball no strike count on Osiel Flores, the rain that delayed the start of the game finished it off. The game was called and the Colts won a rain shortened five and two-thirds ball game, by that same final. Henschel (6-5) was brilliant going the distance allowing just one run, on four hits, walking two and striking out four.
The Colts move onto the second leg of their longest road trip of the year, as they take on the WhiteWings in a four day five game series. In game one San Angelo will send out righty Sean Keeler (0-0, 0.00) to the mound, who will make his debut for the Colts, against a pitcher yet to be named for Rio Grande Valley. The first pitch is set for 7:05 p.m. you catch all the action on 101.9 "The Fire".
