Pitching Matchup: LHP Eduardo Rodriguez (1-0, 1.86) vs. LHP Adam Conley (2-0, 1.06)
STAT OF THE DAY: The scheduled pitching matchup on Tuesday at Arthur W. Perdue Stadium is Dylan Bundy (4th overall) vs. Matt Barnes (19th overall). It will be the second matchup of first round picks from 2011 this season.
PREVIEW: The Shorebirds went scoreless over the final five innings and the Grasshoppers plated runs in the fifth and eighth innings to top the Shorebirds 5-3 last night. The Shorebirds seven losses this season have been by a combined 11 runs. The Shorebirds are in third place, two games back of Greensboro and a game and a half behind Hickory. The Shorebirds are 4-5 on the road this season.
LINO VS. GREENSBORO: Gabriel Lino is batting .538 against Greensboro pitching this season (7-for-13). He has two home runs, two doubles and seven RBIs in three games played.
4-HIT GAME FOR RUETTIGER: John Ruettiger recorded his first four-hit game of his career last night (4-for-5). He is tied for second in the South Atlantic League with 22 hits. Only Alan Hanson of the West Virginia Power has more hits (26). Ruettiger is tied with Ron Welty for the most hits in the Orioles farm system. The 22-year old has a six-game hit streak and an eight-game on-base streak headed into game three of the series.
4-GAMER FOR DELMONICO: Nicky Delmonico has hit safely in four straight games, tied for his longest stretch of the season. He is 6-for-17 (.352) with two runs, two doubles and five RBIs in his last four games.
TWO PITCHERS ONLY: Last night, the Shorebirds used just two pitchers for a fifth time this season. Tyler Wilson went five innings and Matt Taylor threw three innings out of the pen.
4-20 WITH RISP: The Shorebirds left 13 runners on base last night and went 4-for-20 when hitting with runners in scoring position. The Shorebirds are 8-for-36 (.222) when hitting with runners in scoring position in the series. Last night, the Shorebirds left seven runners in scoring position over the final five innings.
