Delmarva Shorebirds News Release
Salisbury, Md.- Lake County second baseman Adam Davis had a 3-for-4 night to lead the Captains to a 6-1 victory over the Delmarva Shorebirds at Arthur W. Perdue Stadium.
Davis had two singles, a ground-rule double as well as scored the game-winning run on a sacrifice fly in the fourth inning by Nick Weglarz for a 2-1 Captains lead. Davis' RBI single in the fifth opened up a two-run lead and his ground-rule double in the ninth inning closed out the scoring.
Jeanmar Gomez went five innings for the Captains to earn the victory. He allowed only one run and three hits in five innings and struck out three. The Captains bullpen performed very well in four innings of work, giving up four hits and striking out six. Scott Sumner had four of those strikeouts, including working out of a second and third with one out jam in the seventh inning by striking out Bobby Andrews and Danny Figueroa in consecutive at-bats before Pedro Florimon grounded out to end the inning. Brandon Snyder went 3-for-4 for the Shorebirds and Brandon Tripp hit a home rum in the second, accounting for the only run for Delmarva. The Captains win at Perdue Stadium was only the sixth win in two meetings this season against the Shorebirds and only the third at Perdue Stadium.
