
League President Sets Savannah Date For Farewell Tour

SAVANNAH, Ga. - On Friday, July 6, long-time South Atlantic League President John Moss is scheduled to attend the Sand Gnats game at Grayson Stadium. It will be his final appearance in Savannah during his presidency. The game, against the Rome Braves is scheduled for 7 p.m. and will be immediately followed by fireworks.
Moss will be honored before Friday's game with a ceremony as part of his farewell tour of SAL ballparks. Moss is the only man ever to be president of the SAL and has presided over the league since it was known as the Western Carolinas League in 1959. It has been known as the South Atlantic League since 1964. Last month Eric Krupa was named as Moss' successor for the 2008 season.
