
Shoemaker Promoted to Winston-Salem

WINSTON-SALEM, NC (JULY 27, 2011) - The Winston-Salem Dash announced today that OF Brady Shoemaker has been promoted to Winston-Salem from low-A Kannapolis. There is no corresponding roster move at this time.
Shoemaker was fourth in the South Atlantic League with a .319 batting average in 99 games for Kannapolis. He hit 11 home runs and drove in 65 runs. The Brazil, IN native led the league in games played, hits (119), and was second in runs scored (68), third in total bases (184) and tied for fourth in RBI. He trailed Dan Black by two home runs and four RBI for the team lead in those categories.
A 19th round selection in the 2009 MLB First-Year Player Draft, Shoemaker played baseball at Indiana State University. He played on the same ISU squad as current Dash players Nick Ciolli and Jake Petricka. Shoemaker and Ciolli were both drafted in 2009, the same year that the two were tied for the team lead in RBI, and were 1-2 on the Sycamores and batting average (Ciolli hit .401 to Shoemaker's .389). Shoemaker, Ciolli, and former Dash catcher Josh Phegley were all either born in or currently reside in Terra Haute.
Shoemaker spent last season with Kannapolis and hit .293 with 12 home runs and 55 RBI in 96 games. He ranked sixth in the league in slugging percentage (.473) and seventh in on-base percentage (.381). In 2009 he split his professional debut between Rookie Bristol and AAA Charlotte. With the Bristol White Sox he his .351 with nine home runs and 34 RBI and was named to the Appalachian League All-Star Team and the Topps Short Season/Rookie All-Star Team. In eight games with Charlotte, he hit .103 with one home run and two RBI.
The Dash roster is currently at the Carolina League limit of 25 players.
