Spokane Shock News Release
CHICAGO - The Spokane Shock have maintained the No. 1 ranking in the Week 13 Coaches Poll, the arenafootball2 (af2) league office announced today. The Shock collected 447 of a possible 448 points and 28-of-29 first place votes in securing the top position for the third consecutive week. Spokane stayed perfect in 2008 at 11-0 after an impressive 21-point win at Tri-Cities this past Saturday, 54-33. The victory also clinched a spot in the postseason for the Shock. Spokane has qualified for the ArenaCup playoffs in all three seasons of the team's existence.
The defending ArenaCup Champion Tulsa Talons (10-1, 407 points, 1 first place votes) maintained the No. 2 position this week on the strength of a 48-31 home win against Iowa. With Lubbock's Week 12 loss at Arkansas, the Talons increased their lead in the Central Division to three games over the Renegades and Twisters. Wilkes-Barre/Scranton (9-2, 381 points) also held firm at No. 3 as the Pioneers scored an impressive, 77-49, Week 12 home victory against then No. 5 Tennessee Valley. Green Bay is a new entry into the Top-5 this week. The Blizzard (8-3, 329 points), winners of three consecutive contests, improved two positions from No. 6 to No. 4 on the strength of a 34-31 road win at Midwest Division foe Louisville. Florida (8-3, 325 points) slipped one spot to No. 5 after losing at South Division rival South Georgia, 42-32.

Each week during the season af2 coaches will vote for the Top 16 teams in the league by ranking them one through 16 on a ballot. Teams ranked first receive 16 points with the point value decreasing by one for each place below first, meaning a team ranked 16th would receive one point. Total points will determine the Top 16 list. In the event of a tie in total points, the team with the greater number of first-place votes will be ranked higher. The af2 Coaches Poll will be announced every Wednesday during the regular season. Coaches are not allowed to vote for their own team and the poll results have no bearing on postseason qualification.
