Shipley Fires Shutout in Rain Shortened Win

MOBILE, AL - BayBears starting right-hander Braden Shipley threw six shutout innings as the Mobile BayBears topped the Pensacola Blue Wahoos 6-0 Wednesday night at Hank Aaron Stadium. The game was called early in the top of the seventh inning due to rain.

Mobile scored at least one run in each of the first four innings to jump out to a 6-0 advantage. Socrates Brito singled and scored on an error in the first inning then after Mitch Haniger was hit by a pitch in the bottom of the second he scored on a RBI double from Ronnie Freeman.

In the third inning with two runners on, Zach Borenstein stretched the Mobile lead to five with a three-run homer to right center. The final run for the BayBears came in the top of the fourth inning when Raul Navarro singled and scored on a RBI base hit from Brito.

Despite the early runs, Shipley stole the show on the mound. The rightly hurled six shutout innings allowing just three hits, walking one and striking out five to improve to 3-4 on the season.

Mobile (27-25) and Pensacola (21-30) will meet for game four of the five game series on Thursday night at "The Hank" with first pitch scheduled for 7:05 PM
