New Jersey Cardinals News Release

With a victory last night over the Brooklyn Cyclones (New York Mets), Cards Manager Tom Shields (95-101) moved within one victory of tying the all-time Cardinals record for victories held by former manager Jeff Shireman (96-130). Shields goes for the record tonight when the Cardinals take on the Brooklyn Cyclones at Keyspan Park in Brooklyn.

In his 3rd season at the helm of Cardinals baseball, Shields has the Cardinals in the thick of a pennant race. The club is 8-4 in their last 12 games and has moved within 2.5 games of first place Brooklyn and 1.0 game of wild-card leading Hudson Valley (Tampa Bay Devil Rays). After playing Brooklyn tonight in the finale of a 3-game set, the Cards host the Renegades tomorrow night at Skylands Park in the first of three key games between the two clubs. Then, on Friday, the Cards and Cyclones hook back up for the opener of a 2-game series.

The Cardinals play at Skylands Park on Tuesday, August 10, and Thursday, August 12, beginning at 7:15 pm, and on Saturday, August 14, beginning at 5:00 pm. Tuesday, there is a batting helmet giveaway and a post-game party at the Hampton House Bar & Grill; Thursday night, Miller Lite sponsors the Miller Lite Bat Bonanza and Singles Night, and Saturday is Boy Scout Sleepover night, Thunderstixx giveaway sponsored by Roccos Italian Deli and Family Catch on the Field.
