Vancouver Giants News Release
Vancouver BC - The Vancouver Giants are pleased to announce that Dave Sheldon will assume the role of Director of Broadcast and Media Relations. Sheldon has been involved with the Western Hockey League for the past five seasons, having spent three years with the Everett Silvertips and two seasons with the Chilliwack Bruins. Dave fills the role vacated by long-time Giants broadcaster Joey Kenward, who has moved on to cover the NHL's Vancouver Canucks.
âWith the departure of Joey Kenward, we felt it was essential to bring in a broadcaster with experience in the league and the ability to step right in and not miss a beat,' comments Giants Team President Ron Toigo. âDave's ability to communicate well with the media and his broadcasting experience were keys in our decision to bring Dave to the Giants.'
Scott Bonner, Giants General Manager: âDave's knowledge of our team and our league is excellent. I know that the coaching staff and myself are excited to bring Dave in and we look forward to working together with him.'
âI am genuinely thrilled to be a part of the Giants organization,' says Sheldon. âTo be a part of my hometown franchise is a great honour. I look forward to sharing my passion and excitement of Giants Hockey and the WHL to all of our great fans.'
Sheldon duties with the Giants will commence immediately, with his first official day on the job being Tuesday, August 5th.
