
Sheen, Riverdogs Hold Off Jackals Offense

Elmira, NY - The Richmond Riverdogs scored two first period goals and then clung to that lead as they beat the Elmira Jackals 2-1 at the First Arena Saturday night.
Jonathan Gagnon struck first blood with a power play goal at 7:13 from Mark Turner and David Hymovitz. Late in the period Kyle Sheen would put Richmond up two, a goal that would be the eventual game winner. Sheen scored at 16:38 from Derek Schutz and J.J. Wrobel.
After a scoreless second period, where the Jackals out-shot Richmond 12-7, Elmira got on the board at 6:22 as Jason Sessa batted down a rebound out of mid-air, his 15th goal of the season, assisted by Chris Shaw and Jeff Antonovich.
Richmond goalie Ryan McIntosh earned first star honors on the night as he stopped 33-of-34 shots for his 5th win of the season. Greg Hewitt was equally stellar, stopping 16-of-18 shots for Elmira.
The Jackals finish off their week as they host the Adirondack Frostbite Sunday at 5:00 pm at the First Arena.
