Mallards Fall Short in Shootout

Moline, IL-The Mallards dropped a 2-1 shootout to the Flint Generals on Saturday night at The MARK. Paul Cabana scored the only regulation goal for the Mallards as the team fell to 10-8-2 through the first quarter of the season.

Cabana's goal was his fifth of the season and staked the Mallards to a 1-0 lead at the 10:36 mark of the first period. Patrick Nadeau earned the lone assist on Cabana's goal.

After a scoreless second, Brent Currie evened the game for the Generals with 9:52 left in the third period. Currie's first goal of the season tied the game and forced the Mallards fourth shootout of the season.

In the shootout, Quad City's Jeff Reynaert and Flint's Dan McIntyre were both impressive as they combined to stop nine of ten shooters. Flint's Jim Duhart recorded the lone marker in the extra frame as the Mallards fell to 2-2 in the shootout.

The Mallards are back on home ice for a Sunday Family Fun-Day Game vs. the Rockford IceHogs. Game time is set for 3:00 p.m. at The MARK of the Quad Cities.
