
Shawn Szydlowski Leads Otters Over Colts

Shawn Szydlowski scored all three goals to lead the Erie Otters to a 3-0 win over the Barrie Colts in an Ontario Hockey League game played in front of 3,136 at the Tullio Arena. Jaroslav Janus turned aside 31 shots in support of Szydlowski's hat trick for his second shutout of the season while Ryan O'Reilly collected three assists. Erie improved to 8-9-1-0 on the season while 7-9-1-0. The two teams were scoreless after one. Erie carried a 1-0 lead into the third. The shots on goal were even at 31. The three stars of the game were all from the Otters. Szydlowski was the first, Janus the second and O'Reilly the third.
The Otters return to action with home games Friday and Saturday at the Tullio Arena. Friday the Otters welcome the Peterborough Petes in a 7 p.m. start. Jason Baird is scheduled to be in attendance to take part in a pre-game ceremony. The former Otters member was severely burned in a landscaping accident in July and will be back to thank the community for their support during his recovery. Saturday it the Otters and the No. 1 ranked Windsor Spitfires in a 7 p.m. start at the Tullio Arena presented by TGI Friday's. The first 1,000 fans into the game receive a free appetizer card.
