Idaho Stampede News Release

SANTA CRUZ, California (January 19, 2015) - The Idaho Stampede fell short to the Fort Wayne Mad Ants despite shooting 51 percent from the field and 52 percent from beyond the arc. The defending champion Mad Ants completed their second half comeback to win 114-109 in the final game of the 2015 NBA D-League Showcase.

The Stampede led for the majority of the game as John Jenkins scored 12 first quarter points, hitting three 3-pointers in the process. Idaho jumped to a 21-9 advantage in the first before taking a 61-57 halftime lead. Fort Wayne grabbed their first lead late in the third quarter as the game saw seven lead changes from there on out. Ramon Harris hit a 3-pointer to put the Mad Ants up by six with just two minutes remaining that helped put the game out of reach for the Stampede.

Jenkins scored a game high 28 points while on assignment from the Atlanta Hawks. Idaho guard Shane Gibson scored 23 points while shooting a perfect seven-for-seven from beyond the arc. Jerrelle Benimon contributed with 18 points and six rebounds off the bench, while Joel Wright added 12 points, seven assists and seven rebounds.

The Mad Ants were led by the reigning Performer of the Week winner Andre Emmett (27 points). Gary Talton pitched in with 17 points and eight assists. Although Fort Wayne only shot 33 percent from 3-point territory, they used the free throw line to slow down the pace and hold onto the lead.

The Stampede will visit the Bakersfield Jam on Jan. 23 for their next game.
