SANTA CRUZ, Calif. Jan. 19, 2015 - The Oklahoma City Blue went 2-0 at the 2015 NBA D-League Showcase, concluding its time in Santa Cruz with a 101-96 win on Monday afternoon. Oklahoma City has now won 10 of its last 12 games.
Five Blue players scored in double figures, including four with 17 or more points. Marquis Teague came off the bench to lead Oklahoma City's scoring efforts with 19 points, six assists and a pair of steals. Talib Zanna recorded his 13th double-double of the season with 18 points and 14 rebounds, including seven on the offensive end.
Mario Little produced 18 points, five rebounds and three assists and Reggie Williams totaled 17 points, and seven boards. Semaj Christion finished with 10 points, five rebounds and four assists while Josh Huestis scored eight points and blocked three shots.
In a game that featured 18 lead changes, Oklahoma City took the lead for good by going up 86-85 on a driving layup from Teague with 5:49 to go. The Blue forced four Knicks turnovers in the final 5:40 to seal its sixth-straight win.
"In the fourth quarter our defense and ability to force difficult shots kind of wore them down," said Blue Head Coach Mark Daigneault. "In the second half our defense really cranked up. We had a disposition to make it very difficult to score on us."
Oklahoma City held the Knicks to 1-of-8 shooting in the first 5:54 of the game, but Westchester held a 19-18 lead after one frame. Oklahoma City used seven second-quarter points from Williams to lead 46-43 at the half but the Knicks would come back to tie the game at 71 heading into the final quarter.
The Blue (14-10) won the rebounding battle 50-39 and held Westchester to 2-of-13 shooting from beyond the arc.
Westchester (8-16) was paced by Thanasis Antetokounmpo with 19 points, five boards, five steals and three blocks.
Oklahoma City returns home for a pair of weekend games at the COX Convention Center. The Blue hosts the Canton Charge on Friday and the Austin Spurs on Saturday. For more information, visit OklahomaCityBlue.com.
