
Sharks Win Big on Friday Night over the Tobs

Wilson, N.C. - The Wilmington Sharks (15-15, 1-2) got the bats rolling on the road on Friday night as they picked up a 13-4 win over the Wilson Tobs. The Sharks picked up 13 runs on 10 hits as the pitching was good for Wilmington as six pitchers saw action as they combined for 11 strike outs and gave up four runs on 10 hits.
The Tobs struck first in the bottom of the first inning as Luke Lowery drove in two runs on a two out double to give Wilson an early 2-0 lead. The Sharks were able to even up the ball game in the top of the second inning as Tyler Slaton scored on a wild pitch and TJ Losby scored on a sacrifice fly off the bat of Alex Perez to tie the game at 2-2.
The Tobs regained the lead in the bottom of the third on a Jimmy Luppens RBI single and a Matt Rembielak RBI single to give Wilson a 4-2 advantage. The Sharks were able to tie up the game at 4-4 in the top of the fourth inning on a RBI triple from Perez who eventually scored on a ground out from Dylan Bosheers.
The Sharks picked up four runs in the top of the fifth inning as it was highlighted on a 2 RBI single off the bat of Slaton to give Wilmington an 8-4 lead. The Sharks continued to score throughout the game as they picked up a run in the sixth and seventh inning and three more runs in the eighth inning to give them a 13-4 lead as they hung on to win the ball game.
Perez and Slaton combined for four hits and six RBIs for the Sharks. Jimmy Luppens went 2-4 with a double and 2 RBIs for the Tobs.
The Sharks return back home on Saturday evening as they take on the Peninsula Pilots with a 7:05 p.m. first pitch.
