Morehead City Marlins News Release
Morehead City, N.C. - The Morehead City Marlins are sending two representatives to the 2013 Coastal Plain League All-Star Game on Monday, July 8 at War Memorial Stadium in Hampton, V.A. Ryan Cranmer (Newberry College) and Dalton Britt (Liberty University) were selected by Coastal Plain League coaches, broadcasters and media representatives to play in Sunday night's game.
Cranmer currently leads the Coastal Plain League in home runs with nine, and is among the top five in numerous offensive categories. In addition to his offense, Cranmer has also helped the Marlins with some stellar defensive plays at both third base and left field.
"When I found out I was picked to the CPL All-Star game, I was very excited and honored to be able to represent the Marlins in Peninsula," Cranmer said. "I have been working hard all season and me and the guys on the team are poised to make a good run in the second."
In addition to Cranmer, Britt has also had an incredible first half for the Marlins. One common theme among good teams is a quality shortstop and Britt has proven time and time again he is an all-star caliber shortstop as he makes even the toughest plays look routine.
"It's a huge honor for me to head out to the All-Star game," Britt said. "I have been lucky enough to have a good season so far and I am going to continue to work hard and help the team win and hopefully make a playoff run."
The All-Star festivities kick-off on Sunday night at 7:05 pm with the first annual Hitter's Challenge, which Cranmer will participate in. The actual All-Star Game will be held on Monday night and the first pitch is scheduled for 7:05. If you can't make it to the game it will be broadcast live on the CPL Webpass.
