Sharks Open Free Agency by Adding Demarcus Robinson

JACKSONVILLE - The Jacksonville Sharks announced Monday that the team continued to build the team's 2015 roster with the addition of veteran defensive back Demarcus Robinson, who has been assigned to the Jacksonville roster on a one-year contract. Per team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The 28-year-old Robinson (6'2", 200) is entering his fifth season in the Arena Football League, and spent each of the past three years with the South Division rival New Orleans VooDoo. Robinson saw action in 14 games during the 2014 season, finishing third on his team with 52.0 total tackles (44 solo) and seven pass breakups. He also picked off two passes and recorded a tackle for loss.

Robinson was a fixture in New Orleans' starting lineup for each of his three seasons with the VooDoo. His most productive campaign came in 2012, when he notched career highs of 91.5 total tackles (79 solo), 17 pass breakups, six interceptions, three forced fumbles and three tackles for loss. Before heading to New Orleans, Robinson pulled down five interceptions with the Cleveland Gladiators as a rookie in 2011. Over the course of his four-year AFL career, Robinson has totaled 280.5 total tackles, 13 interceptions, 37 pass breakups, four forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries and six tackles for loss.

A native of Tyler, Texas, Robinson finished his collegiate career at Henderson State University after attending Tyler Junior College.
