Camden Riversharks News Release

Camden, NJ - In front of a sellout crowd for Baseball in Education Day at Campbell's Field, Angel Pena gave the students something to write about, blasting a big three run homer, edging the Riversharks 7-5 over the Road Warriors this afternoon.

The Riversharks (9-9) jumped out to an early lead, fueled by first baseman Craig Paquette's pair of doubles and three RBI, in addition to L.J. Biernbaum's two runs batted in and Angel Pena's three run blast, his fourth since joining the Sharks'. Left Fielder Brad Strauss also contributed with a RBI double in the third, plating Biernbaum.

On the mound, recently acquired pitcher Ryan Schurman earned his first victory (1-0) after giving up five runs on five hits while striking out three and walking one. After Schurman left the game in the fifth to a 7-5 lead, the Riversharks bullpen proved steady.

Through a combined effort from relief pitchers Erick Burke and Ramon Linares, the Road Warriors were held scoreless through the eigth. Closer Chris Fussell entered the game in the ninth to nail down the victory, earning his Atlantic League leading seventh save.

Cody Harkcom (0-2) suffered the loss after allowing seven earned runs through two innings of work. With the loss, the Road Warriors pushed their record to 4-12 on the season.

The Riversharks look to continue their winning streak tomorrow night at 7:05 pm as they welcome the York Revolution (8-7) for a three game set at Campbell's Field. Following Friday night's game will be an amazing Fireworks show. Saturday's game features a Photo Ball Giveaway to the first 1,000 fans courtesy of Campbell's as well as Kids Run the Bases post-game.
