Riopel to attend Friday's Game:

The Wildcats confirmed this morning Nicola Riopel will be a guest at Friday night's exhibition game against the Halifax Mooseheads at 7 pm at the 4-Plex. The Q's Most Valuable Player last weekend established a record for the best goals against average and walked away with the Jacques Plante trophy along with first team All Star honors in addition to the MVP award. Rio was drafted by the Philadelphia Flyers in June's NHL draft and is preparing to the team's training camp next month.

Training Camp schedule:

There's no ice time scheduled today, the players will be attending fitness testing in the evening. The rookies returned from their exhibition game in Cape Breton early this morning, for a complete summary of the game, click on this link.

Thursday all players will hit the 4-Plex ice for split practices, the first at 11 am and the second at 12:30. Fans are encouraged to attend the workouts free of charge.

Team will be trimmed today:

Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Danny Flynn says training camp numbers will be dropped to around 30 today. Danny feels the Wildcats have had an outstanding number of rookies at this year's camp. "Deciding who stays with the team will be a tough decision. We have some great young players and an excellent group of veterans."

O'Leary, PEI excited about Cavendish Cup:

The town of O'Leary, PEI is looking forward to hosting the second game of this year's Cavendish Cup, next weekend September 4th and 5th. It's the second year of competition between the Wildcats and the Rocket. The trophy goes to the team scoring the most goals in a two game set. The first game will be played at the Charlottetown Civic Centre on Friday. The second and deciding game will be played at the O'Leary Community Sports Centre on Saturday.

Cat of the Day:

In the Cats Coffee Cup today is blueliner Patrick Downe. The 17 year old Fredericton native stands 6 feet and weighs in at 180 pounds. He's certain to be a Wildcat of the future.
