Come chat with Rio:

The first and second intermission of tomorrow night's game between the Wildcats and Halifax Mooseheads, will be a busy time for Nicola Riopel. He'll be swamped with fans looking for pictures and his autograph. The popular Cats goaltender who set a new Q record last season for best goals against average and in the process won the League's MVP and Jacques Plante trophy, will be in town for the weekend. Everyone is invited to say hello and wish Rio well as he gets set for his first NHL training camp. He was drafted by the Philadelphia Flyers in June's NHL draft.

Vets and Rookies on the Ice today:

The hard work of preparation starts today as the Wildcats coaching staff take a mix of veterans and rookies through their first practice session. Cat of the Day:

Today we salute Wildcats alumni. Martins Karsums, has signed a one year deal with the Tampa Bay Lighting. The flashy right winger was a king-pin in the Wildcats Presidents Cup victory of 2006, winning the Guy Lafleur Trophy as the playoffs MVP, scoring seven game winning goals during the 21 playoff games. The 23 year old native of Latvia was drafted by the Boston Bruins in 2004 and traded to Tampa last March.
