January 8, 2004 - National Lacrosse League (NLL)
Buffalo Bandits News Release
Buffalo, N.Y. (January 8, 2004) -- The National Lacrosse League announced today that Bandits midfielder AJ Shannon has been named NLL Rookie of the Week for the first and second weeks of the season. In Buffalo's season opener, Shannon scored 3 goals including the game-winner in the 12-11 victory over the Rochester Knighthawks on January 3 in the HSBC Arena.
"It's nice to see AJ get off to such a fast start, hopefully he can continue this high level of play and take some pressure off our other scorers," said Bandits General Manager Kurt Silcott. "With AJ putting up numbers it makes things that much more difficult on our opponent's defense and gives us another option in our offense that teams will have to worry about."
Shannon, a first round selection (6th Overall) in the 2003 NLL Entry Draft, scored 90 goals in his collegiate career at the University of Virginia, including 4 goals in the Cavaliers' 9-7 victory over Johns Hopkins in the Men's Division I NCCA National Championship.
Packages are available by calling the Buffalo Bandits Ticket Office at 1-888-467-2273, or fans can purchase the package at the HSBC Arena Box Office. The Bandits next home game is Saturday, January 10th at 7:30 PM vs. the Philadelphia Wings. For more information log on to www.bandits.com.
