Wichita, KS â Outfielder Shane Costa (Visalia, CA) has been promoted to the Kansas City Royals from Wichita (AA-Texas), as announced today by the Kansas City Royals.
Costa had been with Wichita since the start of the 2005 season and was batting .274 in 45 games, with five home runs and 7 RBI. Costa had been on a tear of late, batting .350 in his last seven games.
Costa is the third Wrangler to be promoted to the Royals this season, with pitchers Ambiorix Burgos and Leo Nunez preceding him. Last season, 12 Wranglers played in Kansas City at some point during the season. Costa will be the 174th Wrangler alumnae to play in the major leagues since 1989.
