
Shafer Shuts Down Blue Rocks

Wilmington, DE - Hillcats' starter Aaron Shafer tosses another gem as the Hillcats shutout the Blue Rocks and avoid a second half opening sweep in Wilmington. Joey Terdoslavich doubled twice, drove in one, and scored twice in the 6-0 win. *
The Hillcats struck first in the second inning. Adam Milligan doubled to left center to lead off the frame. Two batters later, Joe Leonard doubled home Milligan to put the 'Cats up 1-0.
Lynchburg wouldn't score again until the seventh inning, when Milligan led off again, this time with a double. Terdoslavich singled in Milligan and later scored on an RBI single for Barrett Kleinknecht. The Hillcats led 3-0.
RHP Aaron Shafer went seven innings for the third consecutive start. He did not allow a run on three hits and four walks, while striking out one.
The Hillcats added three more insurance runs in the ninth inning. The first four batters would all hit their way on safely. Leonard had an RBI single and Geraldo Rodriguez doubled in the final two.
Milligan, Terdoslavich, and Leonard each finished the night with two hits apiece, scoring five of the Hillcats six runs.
RHP Eliecer Cardenas and LHP Ryan Buchter pitched the eighth and ninth respectively for the Hillcats. Neither allowed a run, completing the shutout of the Blue Rocks.
Shafer (2-0) earned the win, while RHP Jake Odorizzi was given the loss for Wilmington after allowing just one run through six innings of work.
Lynchburg avoided the sweep with the win and are now 1-2 in the second half. Wilmington fell to 2-1 with the loss.
The Hillcats will travel to Winston-Salem next for a three-game series. Game one is set for a 5:00 pm first pitch tomorrow night. LHP Chris Masters (4-3) will starts for Lynchburg against LHP Joe Serafin (0-6) for the Dash. The Hillcats On-Deck Show powered by Honda/Suzuki of Lynchburg will go on the air at 5:40 pm.
