Tonight's Matchup: Assuming the world has not ended, tonight, the San Francisco Bulls (11-16-1-2) take on the Ontario Reign (18-7-1-0). This is the seventh of 10 meetings between these two Pacific Division rivals, and the third of four meetings at the Cow Palace. The Bulls are 1-4-0-1 against the Reign this season.
In their latest meeting, the Reign defeated the Bulls, 7-0, in Ontario. Ontario captain Derek Couture scored three goals to lead Ontario to victory.
The Bulls are 1-1-0 against Ontario at the Cow Palace. In their most recent meeting in the Bay Area, the Bulls defeated Ontario, 5-1, on November 23. In the victory, Marek Viedensky recorded a season-high five points (2 goals, 3 assists).
Tonight marks the first game since the Bulls hosted the Stockton Thunder at HP Pavilion at San Jose on Monday. The Bulls fought back from a 5-2 deficit in the third period to get within one, but they came up short, losing 6-4 to the visiting Thunder. A crowd of 12,881 fans witnessed the first ECHL game at a current NHL venue since 2002. Toni Rajala scored three goals for Stockton. Rob Kwiet and Andrew Crescenzi each picked up a pair of assists in the loss, the Bulls' first against Stockton this season.
Ontario enters tonight's game having won three of their last four games. The lone loss in that span came on Wednesday against the Las Vegas Wranglers, 6-3, in Ontario.
Couture leads the Reign with 12 points (6 goals, 6 assists) against the Bulls this season. Viedensky and Bowers' five points each are the most against Ontario this season.
