Seven Crunch Alumni Participating in 2010 IIHF World Championships

The Syracuse Crunch have seven (7) alumni currently participating in the 2010 IIHF World Championships in Germany.

The list of alumni are all former defensemen and includes Francois Beauchemin (Canada), Sven Butenschon (Germany), Mikko Maenpaa (Finland), Filip Novak (Czech Republic), Jekabs Redlihs (Latvia) and Michal Roszival (Czech Republic).

Beauchemin, 29, appeared in 72 games with the Crunch during the 2004-05 season, leading all club defensemen in scoring with 30 points (3g, 27a) and 55 penalty minutes.

Butenschon, 34, appeared in 65 games with the Crunch during the 1997-98 season and finished second among club defensemen in scoring with 37 points (14g, 23a) while compiling 66 penalty minutes.

Maenpaa, 27, appeared in seven games with the Crunch during the 2007-08 season, tallying two assists and six penalty minutes.

Novak, 28, appeared in 67 games with the Crunch during the 2006-07 season, finishing third on the club and first among defensemen in scoring with 37 points (5g, 32a) while adding 92 penalty minutes.

Redlihs, 28, appeared in 63 games with the Crunch in parts of three seasons from 2005-07, recording four goals, 11 assists and 58 penalty minutes.

Roszival, 31, appeared in 49 games with the Crunch during the 1998-99 season, notching three goals, 22 assists and 72 penalty minutes.

The IIHF World Championships are being held from May 7-23 in Cologne, Manheim and Gelsenkirchen, Germany.
