
Seven Argos Named To East Division All-Star Team

Toronto, Ont. - The Toronto Argonauts placed seven players on the East Division All-Star team the CFL announced today. Leading the way for the Argos were unanimous picks Adrion Smith at cornerback and Noel Prefontaine at punter. Toronto's seven selections were second to Montreal's placement of twelve players on the squad. Ottawa placed five on the East Division team, while Hamilton placed three players. Only five of the twenty-seven East Division selections were unanimous selections.
Rounding out the Argo selections were Tony Miles at Wide Receiver, Eric England at Defensive Tackle, Clifford Ivory at defensive back, Orlondo Steinauer at free safety and Bashir Levingston at special teams. Levingston was announced on Tuesday as the Eastern nominee for the Outstanding Special Teams (John Agro) Award to be announced at the Rogers AT&T CFL Player Awards on November 14 in Regina.
The Argos take on the B.C Lions this Sunday, November 2 at 4:00PM ET in the East Division Semi-Final.Winner of the East semi-final will travel to Montreal to take on the Alouettes in the East Division Championship presented by WestJet on November 9 at 4:00 PM ET. This marks the second straight year that a team has crossed into the East for the playoffs. The first crossover took place in 1997 with the B.C. Lions making an appearance in Montreal, losing the East semi-final 45-35 to the Alouettes. Last year's crossover by Saskatchewan was the second such time the crossover was used.
