Ottawa Renegades News Release

OTTAWA – The Ottawa Renegades are pleased to announce that five Renegades players have been selected to the East Division All-Star team.

The players are kicker Lawrence Tynes, outside linebacker Kelly Wiltshire, offensive guard Val St. Germain, wide receiver D.J. Flick and running back Josh Ranek who was a unanimous selection at his position.

Ranek, 25, a second-year veteran from South Dakota State, became the first Renegades back to record a 1,000-yard rushing season, finishing the season with 1,122 yards on 176 carries (for a 6.4-yard per carry average). Ranek, who also led the club with 11 touchdowns, recorded five 100-yard games during the 2003 season.

Tynes, 25, a second-year veteran from Troy State, set an Ottawa football record with 51 field goals, breaking the previous mark of 46 kicked by Terry Baker in 1991. Tynes shared the league scoring title with Troy Westwood of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers with 198 points.

Wiltshire, 31, from James Madison University, and the Renegades' nominee as Most Outstanding Canadian and Most Outstanding Defensive Player, led the club with 79 defensive tackles and 91 total tackles and started all 18 games. He has not missed one game in seven CFL seasons.

St. Germain, 32, an Ottawa native out of McGill University, played his 150th career regular-season CFL game on October 26 when the Renegades completed the 2003 season in Montreal. A 10-year CFL veteran, St. Germain is viewed as the "glue" of a strong Renegades offensive line.

Flick, 23, a second-year veteran from Slippery Rock University, led the Renegades with 60 pass receptions and 917 receiving yards and scored seven touchdowns, the most by any Renegades receiver in the franchise's two-year history.

The East Division All-Star team, selected by the Football Reporters of Canada and designated members of the broadcast media, includes 12 members of the Montreal Alouettes, seven Toronto Argonauts and three Hamilton Tiger-Cats.
