Little Falls, NJ - New Jersey Jackals starter Ted Serro pitched six shutout innings before the Jackals broke a scoreless tie with a four-run bottom of the sixth en route to a 5-3 victory over the Worcester Tornadoes on Saturday night in front of 3,938 fans at Yogi Berra Stadium. The win was New Jersey's third straight in their four-game series against the Tornadoes, and ninth in ten games against Worcester this season.

Serro (2-1) allowed just four hits in his fourth start of the season and left the game after New Jersey pounded out six consecutive hits in the sixth inning against Tornadoes starter Junior Guerrero. The Jackals had just two hits entering the frame, but 2B Tommy Murphy led off with a single which was followed by a Casey Gordon base knock. With runners on first and second, CF Zack Smithlin beat out a bunt to load the bases. C Matt Lauderdale then doubled home two runs to put the Jackals up 2-0 before RBI singles by DH Luke Allen and 3B Chris Kelly extended New Jersey's lead to 4-0 through six innings.

In the top of the seventh, Worcester struck Jackals reliever Hunter Davis for three runs as CF BJ Weed lifted a sacrifice fly, which 2B Omar Pena followed with a two-run single to cut New Jersey's lead to 4-3. However, that was as close as Worcester came as the Jackals added an eighth inning insurance run on a bases loaded walk by LF Andrew Larsen to cap the scoring at 5-3.

Guerrero (4-4) went eight innings and allowed eleven hits as he picked up the loss. New Jersey closer Rusty Tucker earned his third save in as many days as he hurled a scoreless ninth inning to pick up his league-leading 14th save of the season.

The Jackals and Tornadoes conclude their four-game series on Sunday evening at 5:05 p.m. at Yogi Berra Stadium when New Jersey sends right-hander Tom Atlee to the hill against Worcester's Tom Cochran. If you can't make it out to the ballpark, you can catch every inning via live webcast at www.jackals.com with the broadcast beginning five minutes prior to first pitch.
