Tri-City ValleyCats News Release
TROY, NY - The Tri-City ValleyCats were unable to come away with the win in their series opener vs. the Connecticut Tigers, losing by a score of 6-2.
The ValleyCats starter Brett Daniels kept the game close early on, holding the Tigers off the scoreboard for the game's first three innings.
Shawn Dubin then took over in the fourth, giving up two runs.
The ValleyCats matched those two runs in the fifth on run-scoring hits from Enmanuel Valdez and Carlos Machado.
They remained tied entering the sixth inning, when Luis De Paula walked a total of six batters, allowing three runs to score in earning his team-leading fourth loss of the season.
Connecticut went on to tack on one more run in the eighth inning, when Dayton Dugas hit his second home run of the season.
Now with a record of 26-22, the ValleyCats still lead the Stedler Division by 1.5 games over both the Connecticut Tigers and Lowell Spinners.
The Tigers and ValleyCats will return to Dodd Stadium on Monday night, for the second game of their three-game series, with first pitch slated for 7:05 p.m.
