Sensational Senzatela Sparkles in Nuts 4-0 Success

Visalia, CA. - Antonio Senzatela led the Modesto Nuts into first place with a 4-0 victory over the Visalia Rawhide at Recreation Park on Friday night.

Antonio Senzatela (W, 7-5) worked eight shutout innings with seven strikeouts and no walks while allowing just four hits. He allowed just one hit in his first six innings. In the seventh, he stranded the tying and go-ahead runs with a strikeout of Tyler Baker.

Sam Moll tossed a scoreless ninth and the Nuts (51-46; 18-9) pulled into a tie for first place with the Rawhide (60-37; 18-9) in the Second Half North Division standings.

Anthony Banda (L, 6-8) threw well against the Nuts. The southpaw struck out six of the first seven batters he faced before finishing with a season-high nine. He did not give up a hit until Dillon Thomas whacked a leadoff single in the fifth. Thomas recorded another three hits and has been retired just four times over the last four games.

The Nuts took the lead in the seventh when Wilson Soriano drove in Drew Weeks with a RBI groundout. In the ninth, the Nuts tacked on three more runs. Thomas had a RBI double. Soriano added a RBI single and scored on an error.
