Senators Win Third Straight over Akron with 8-4 Win Sunday

The Harrisburg Senators made it three straight over Akron on Sunday afternoon with an 8-4 win. They scored four in the first inning, with three of the four coming with two outs, en route to the win. After falling 7-0 Thursday night, the Senators bounced back by scoring 20 runs in the three wins on 39 hits.

In the first inning, Tim Pahuta drove in Eury Perez with a sacrifice fly for the first run and second out of the inning. Destin Hood followed with a run-scoring single, Devin Ivany an RBI double and the last run scored on a single by Sean Nicol.

In the third, Hood drove in Rahl with a single, then scoring on Ivany's second double of the game.

Mike Ballard started and pitched the first two innings scoreless before running into trouble in the third. He gave up a three-run home run to Jared Goeddert in the third inning, followed by a run scoring single to Adam Abraham to make the score 6-4 Senators.

In the fourth, after Kyle Bellows singled Erik Davis was summoned and Davis pitched three scoreless innings for the win.

The Sens tacked on insurance runs in the seventh and ninth innings, both on singles off the bat of Chris Rahl for their final tally of eight runs. Pat McCoy pitched the final three innings, all scoreless, to earn his first save on the season.

The Senators improved to 20-16 with the win while Akron fell to 22-12. After an off-day on Monday, the Senators head to Richmond to begin a three-game series on Tuesday night at The Diamond.
