Harrisburg Senators News Release
The Harrisburg Senators snapped their four-game losing streak with a 3-1 win over the Bowie Baysox Wednesday night in Bowie. The Sens received terrific pitching, solid defense, and one timely hit to beat Bowie. Harrisburg managed only five hits in the game but made three of them count in the win.
The Big Play
In the top of the eighth leading 1-0, the Senators had runners at second and third with two outs and Jackson Cluff at the plate. He had already driven in the only Sens run with a sacrifice fly. On a 2-2 pitch he narrowly missed hitting a three-run home run. Following a foul ball, he tripled in the right center field alley way driving in two runs and giving the Sens a 3-0 lead.
On Capitol Hill
Alemao Hernandez earned the win by going six innings and giving up just five hits.
Lucas Knowles and Jack Sinclair followed and both earned holds with each tossing a scoreless inning... Joel Peguero allowed a run but earned his seven save of the season.
With the Gavel
Harrisburg had just five hits in the game... Three of them came in the eighth inning when Donovan Casey and Frankie Tostado both singled and scored on Cluff's triple... Leonel Valera singled to extend his hitting streak to 13 games.
Filibusters
The Sens defense turned two double plays and have turned 34 on the season... The Sens stranded 11 base runners and went just 1-for-7 with runners in scoring position... Bowie scored their lone run with two outs in the ninth inning... Harrisburg ended May with a 14-12 record.
