Harrisburg Senators News Release

Trailing by a run entering the sixth inning, the Bowie Baysox scored seven runs in two innings to run away with a 9-1 win over the Harrisburg Senators Saturday night at Metro Bank Park. A crowd of 6,739 for Paint the Park Pink Night witnessed the Senators (57-63) pick up their fifth loss in six games.

Colin Bates started for the Senators and allowed Bowie to take a 1-0 lead on an RBI single by Drew Dosch in the second inning. The Senators tied the game in the fourth when Shawn Pleffner singled, moved to second on a Cutter Dykstra walk and scored on an RBI single by Jose Lozada. However, the third time through the order, Bowie starter Ariel Miranda retired all nine he faced, including six strikeouts.

Meanwhile, Bowie scored a run in the fifth off Bates to make it a 2-1 game. Bates finished five innings, allowing two runs on seven hits while throwing 97 pitches. Wander Suero relieved Bates in the sixth, and retired the first two batters he faced. Suero then walked two batters and allowed an RBI single and a two-run single before being relieved by Gilberto Mendez. Mendez also allowed an RBI hit in Bowie's four-run sixth. The Baysox scored three in the seventh off Mendez to open up an eight-run advantage.

Lefty reliever Nick Lee threw 1.1 scoreless innings and Erik Davis pitched a clean ninth inning. The lone Senator with multiple hits Saturday was Pleffner, who was 2-for-4.

The Senators will try to win the series tomorrow afternoon at 1:30 p.m. The pregame show will start at 1:15 p.m. on Fox Sports 1460am, iHeart Radio, and on Tune In.
