Owen Sound Attack News Release

Hockey Canada announced Tuesday the naming of 66 players to represent Canada at the World Under-17 Hockey Challenge in Saint John and Quispamsis, New Brunswick from November 3-10, 2018.

The Owen Sound Attack are happy to announce that rookie defenceman Nolan Seed has been selected to the 66-player roster for the U17 Team Canada along with Attack prospect Josh Barnes.

Seed, a 16-year-old rookie with the Owen Sound Attack this season, was taken 15th overall by the Attack in the 2018 OHL Priority Selection. He is a native of Smith Falls, Ontario and spent his minor midget season playing for the Smith Falls Bears junior squad. Seed won best rookie defenceman in the Eastern loop this season as well.

This past weekend, Seed scored his first OHL goal in the game vs. London Knights on Saturday, October 13th when he sniped a shot past goaltender Jordan Kooy.

Josh Barnes, a native of Cornwall, Ontario, was selected 24th overall in the 2018 OHL Priority Selection Draft. The centreman scored 23 goals and added 23 assists in 36 games for the Cornwall Colts U18 Program.

The 66-player roster will be divided into three separate teams. Team Canada Black, Team Canada Red, and Team Canada White. All teams will compete against the Czech Republic, Finland, Russia, Sweden and the United States in their quest for a gold medal.

Full-event ticket packages for the 2018 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge are sold out. A $99 Harbour Station ticket package is now available for purchase at the Harbour Station box office and includes all preliminary-round games in Saint John, as well as both semifinals and the bronze- and gold-medal games. Single-game tickets are also available for purchase starting at $13 at HockeyCanada.ca/Tickets.

The Owen Sound Attack and General Manager Dale DeGray are excited for the opportunity the U17 Team Canada presented for both Seed and Barnes and wish them all the best in the tournament. This season of Attack hockey is presented to you by Lerner's Personal Injury Lawyers.
