Charleston Lowgators News Release

NORTH CHARLESTON (January 29, 2003) – North Charleston Lowgators forward Sedric Webber had the opportunity to go back to elementary school on Wednesday afternoon. Brandon Williams, a first grader at Cathedral Academy, won a Lowgators Kids Club contest to eat lunch at school with his favorite player, and chose the College of Charleston alum.

After eating pizza with Williams' first grade class, Webber spent quality time in the classroom with the kids. As part of the NBDL's Read to Achieve Program, Webber read The Seven Chairs by Tanya Noegel and answered questions from the enthusiastic first graders.

"I love spending time with kids," said Webber. "The Read to Achieve Program is outstanding. It gives us a chance to go out into the community and spend time with kids and help then understand the importance of reading and academics."

The Lowgators will be on the road for the next three games and then will be back at the North Charleston Coliseum as they host the Roanoke Dazzle on Friday, February 7, 2003 at 7 p.m. Nickelodeon superstar, SpongeBob SquarePants, will perform throughout the game. Gates will open an hour early at 5 p.m. Additionally, the first 1500 kids will receive a Lowgators youth jersey. Ticket prices are $7.50 for children and seniors, $10.00 for members of the military and $13.00 for adults.
