Riverdragons Recently: Riverdragons sit in 7th place, 2.0 behind Huntsville (15-14) for fourth and final playoff spot...have dropped two straight...lost 88-79 in Asheville Friday (1/24) in first meeting with Altitude this season...committed season-high 20 turnovers in that game...Nate Johnson remained in line-up, scoring team-high 16 points over 21 minutes... Johnson missed second half in loss to Huntsville (1/20) with sprained left ankle...with win Thursday can close month with 6-4 record ...would be first month over .500 this season...are averaging league-high 19.9 assists over last ten games...Greg Stempin has hit 7-of-9 3FGA's (77.7%) over last five games...Six-day rest in between games (Jan.24-30) is longest of season along with six-day hiatus Dec. 7-13, 2002...will play just four of their twelve games in February at Columbus Civic Center...Rdragons have six home games in three week stretch to close season in March....

Series Notes: First meeting between these two teams this season...Rdragons won all six meetings with Patriots last season...Fayetteville is much different squad from the one that finished second to last in 2001-02...Current Patriots are in first-place and have been so since Dec. 31...Patriots head coach Jeff Capel is 0-5 vs. Columbus...Patriots lost to Columbus 72-69 (1/8/02) under asst. coach Sam Worthen the day former Patriot had coach Tiny Nate Archibald resigned to take position in NBA league office...Last meeting was back on Mar. 22, 2002, a 82-76 Riverdragons victory at the Columbus Civic Center...In that game, current Riverdragons Greg Stepmin broke out for 36 points for the Patriots...Stempin's performance remains a single game record for points scored by a Riverdragons opponent as well as tied for most points scored in a game in regulation in NBDL history...Current Patriot Terrell McIntyre also scored 36 points in regulation vs. N. Scouting Fayetteville: First-place Patriots (17-11) have won three-straight and five of last seven games... Patriots lead second-place Mobile by 1.5 games...Game features best two passing teams in the league...Patriots lead league in assists (16.9 apg), Rdragons are second averaging 16.7 apg...Game also features two of top three scoring teams in the league...Patriots are second in scoring (88.3 ppg), the Riverdragons third (84.5 ppg)...Patriots are only team in the league with two players ranked in top five in assists...Terrell McIntyre is third (4.9 apg), Omar Cook is fifth (4.4 apg).. Riverdragons Nate Green lies in between McIntyre and Cook, ranked fourth averaging 4.7 apg... Asst. Sam Worthern will serve as head coach Thursday...Worthen is filling in for Patriots head coach Jeff Capel, who is recovering from rotator cuff surgery...Patriots are 2-1 all-time under Worthen...Worthen's only loss was to Riverdragons Jan. 8 of last season, a 72-69 Columbus victory...Patriots are 33-29 (.532) under head coach Jeff Capel since 30-year coaching veteran took over team Jan. 8 of last season...Capel's son Jason is averaging 12.4 ppg as Patriots starting small forward...Jason played four season at the University of North Carolina, where he ranks among top 25 scorers in school history with 1,477 career points.
