Asheville Tourists News Release

ASHEVILLE - The Asheville Tourists won for the second night in a row over the Greensboro Grasshoppers. Unlike last night, the Tourists led start to finish and came away with a 9-3 win.

Greensboro committed FIVE errors in the game, but Asheville's offense did plenty of work on their own. Shael Mendoza led off the first inning with a triple and promptly scored on Bret Boswell's RBI single to right. Ryan Vilade added a two-run single later in the inning.

The Tourists plated two more in the second on RBI base hits from Casey Golden and Sean Bouchard. They added an unearned run in the third and led 6-1 after three. Golden tacked on a two-run Home Run in the sixth while Greensboro's only offense late was a Home Run by Garvis Lara.

Will Gaddis pitched seven strong innings and earned his second win of the year. Gaddis struck out a season-high six batters and did not issue a single walk.

Boswell finished with a game-high three hits while Golden, Mendoza, Vilade and Bouchard all added three hits. Asheville did not commit an error for the second consecutive game.

The Tourists will attempt to sweep the Grasshoppers on Friday night with the series finale set for 7:05pm.
